A aprendizagem de Medicina Tradicional Chinesa envolve a aculturação de conteúdos específicos e modos de pensar profundamente influenciados pela cultura chinesa. Para ser proficiente na fitoterapia chinesa, o aluno deve primeiro ter um conhecimento profundo de cada substância medicinal, para depois ser capaz de combiná-las. Obtém-se desta forma um tratamento adaptado às queixas e diagnóstico do paciente.

O objectivo deste estudo foi compreender se a manipulação das substâncias medicinais durante as aulas de Matéria Médica Oriental criaria alguma diferença nos resultados de avaliação, bem como na percepção dos alunos sobre o processo de aprendizagem.

Estatisticamente não se verificou melhoria nas avaliações dos alunos, mas os alunos consideraram relevante a manipulação das substâncias nas aulas.

ABSTRACT

The learning process for a Traditional Chinese Medicine student involves an acculturation of specific contents and ways of thinking that are deeply influenced by the Chinese culture. To be proficient in Chinese Herbal Medicine one should first have a deep knowledge of each medicinal substance, and only then will be able to combine them. That will result in a treatment, adapted to the patient’s complaints and diagnose.

The intent of this study was to understand if the presence of the medicinal substances during the Oriental Medicinal Substances class would create any difference in the evaluation, as well as in the self-perception the students had over the learning process.

The results didn’t show an improvement in the classifications, but the student valued the contact with the medicinal substances.
